Video Games Vs Movies, The End Of The Sliver Screen?
Video games vs movies, is this valid? Has the video game industry taken a big part of the movie industry? You bet it has. Is the movie industry a bit desperate these days as video games become more and more like movies? I think so. Will the sliver screen era come to an end now?
Is Hollywood about to go under? If you has to choose what would it be? Take your choice: video games vs movies? Video games give you a sense of power. Games like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare make you feel like your own movie hero saving the world from the bad guys. Video games give you power over the story itself. Now video games give me a feeling of power and excitement and that is hard to resist?
The dilemma for the movie industry is that a lot of games gives the player hours if not hundreds of hours of game play. So when do the gamers have time to go to a movie?
But for the movies all is not lost. When movies came out way back, people thought that would be the end of reading. Again, when TV came out, guess what, people thought that would be the end of the silver screen, over sixty years ago. So again when video games began that was supposed to spell the end of TV. Video games have been around since the 70ties.
But they were all wrong, stuff like this does not happen. How come? What it boils down to is that the more people have the more people want to have. More stores means more costumers, so developers do their best at cramming in as many stores as possible into one location.
Video games vs movies, is this comparison possible? Not really. They are two different things. One is active participation, the other is a passive experience.
I believe that each give us different experiences, for different times of day or moods. I don't like being active all of the time. A video game is an active concentrated effort that gets the blood rushing, and is like partaking in sports. Traditionally movies are passive experiences, the light is reflected from the movie screen into your eyes, like the moon light. Movies are a chance to sit back relax and enjoy a story, like in the days of yore when we would sit under the moon light and tell a story. What does a video game offer, active participation where I can be a winner, a hero.
The problem with Hollywood is getting people into the cinema, and the way they do it is either creating gimmicks like real 3D, or combining the film concept with a video game release. It is true that their might be less and less movie goers, but now we do not even have to leave the comfort of our home with VOD. If you like movie style video games that combine the best of both worlds this is it: Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
