Noche Buena, a phrase that literally translates to "the good night", is undoubtedly an occasion that needs large family get togethers with an extreme amount of Filipino food shared, for many of us Filipinos.
Each family have their special mixture of appetizers, main dish and sweets, which preparations are often the collaborative time and effort of the members theirselves.
Teddy Manuel of Flowers and Events remembers their family table being embellished with lechon, ham, queso de bola, hot chocolate as well as delicious bread.
“It’s all about the family get together and waking up at 12 midnight,” Teddy said.
RenRem Ann, event assistant of Aristocrat, mentioned that holiday best-sellers consist of chicken barbeque, palabok and the amazing Kare Kare.
“These are actually the filipino food they knew as a kid,” he said.
Head Chef of Restaurant 9501 (of ABS-CBN’s ELJ building), Raul Ramos likewise provided us a number of his Christmas Day favorites. He explained that growing up, he was excited at the taught of eating sweets such as creamy fruit salad and leche Flan. Sweet ham and queso de bola were also favorites on their meal table.
“Our Christmas table won’t be whole without having the ham and queso de bola,” he Head Chef added.
