Christmas Soft Furnishings

Christmas is a time for celebration and a time when we pay more attention the look of our home - whether your home is packed full of designer furniture, family heirlooms or flat pack, everyone wants their home to look amazing at Christmas. Christmas decorations such as holly, baubles and candles are the things that might first come to mind but soft furnishings can make a home look very cosy and festive too.

Soft furnishings include cushions, curtains, bed linen, towels, chair covers, and other fabric accessories for the home.

Soft furnishings are more expensive to buy than a garland of tinsel but they can have more impact because they are larger so they are definitely worth considering for any room in your house.

Create a festive look in the bathroom by using Christmas bath towels. There are plenty of designs to choose from including reindeer, holly, Santa and Christmas slogans.

The bedroom can be done up with a festive bedspread and pillow cases and if you want to take the look even further you can put up some yuletide curtains. Consider curtains carefully though because they may look a bit over the top if they are including Christmas motifs. If you want a suitably cosy pair of curtains perhaps consider some warm tone, spice-coloured silk or velvet ones - they will add a sense of luxury but they will see you through the entire winter period. The heavy weight of velvet and raw silk will help keep the cold out whilst making your house look very welcoming.

The living room can be adorned with shaped cushions - Christmas trees, Santa’s, stars and more. Printed cushions are also available in some cool festive designs. You can even purchase a soft stag’s head if you want to!

Christmas tea towels can look great in the kitchen and they give a bit of cheer to anyone doing the cooking.

The dining room is probably the main focus on Christmas Day. Decorate your chairs with fabric covers and get hold of a stunning table cloth or table runner.

For anyone on a small budget, consider shopping in the sales for items that can be used the next year. You can pick up some great prices if you know when and where to look.

If you are handy with a needle and thread you could also consider creating your own soft furnishings. Knowing that you made something can be particularly satisfying and some items can even become family heirlooms.

If you want an elegant look and your needle and thread skills don’t match up, visit your local shops to see what’s available. Often you can find some interesting buys on your travels - keep an eye out when visiting other places.

Of course there’s always the world wide web to turn to. You can find some lovely things online.

However you choose to celebrate this festive season there are plenty of soft furnishings that can help give your home a great Christmas look.

 Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle

Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle

Filled with hundreds of specific examples and organized into a coherent framework of practical concepts that can be applied by managers and entrepreneurs at all levels, Built to Last provides a master blueprint for building organizations that will prosper in the 21st century and beyond. In Good to Great, the most widely anticipated management book of the year, Jim Collins presents nothing less than a recipe book on how to make a good company great. Following the success of his international blockbuster Built to Last, where he and co-author Jerry Porras discovered the secrets of companies that were outstanding at their founding and then sustained greatness, Collins wondered what could be done for the company that is good or mediocre at best? He questioned whether there have been companies that started weak and finished strong, and if so, what can be said about these companies that might help managers turn a mediocre organization into a great one? So Collins and his research team undertook a massive five year study of every company that has made the Fortune 500 since the advent of that listing in 1965, and has crafted a book as practical and insightful as BUILT TO LAST. This exclusive deluxe box set brings together the two most important business books of the last decade from Jim Collins, the leader in modern business theory.
