Help Subside In Holiday Strain With Humorous Christmas Cards
While most everyone else sends serene, religious or cheerful Christmas cards during the holidays you can make an impact by sending funny Christmas cards instead. You see, many people get stressed out by the holidays due to tight schedules, having to spend extra money on gifts for people they don’t really like, and annoying relatives who come to town, snore on their couch, and eat all of their food.
Unfortunately, you might not be able to change any of that, but you might get some relief by sending them a funny card or one with a Christmas-themed joke in it.
But, be careful. Understanding the person to whom you are sending the card and their sense of humor is a precursor to a palatable conclusion after the card is sent. Something you find hilarious may be offensive to them.
Based on extensive Internet research, I have uncovered several types of humorous cards. A popular funny card depicts a wide array of animals dressed like reindeer. Although animals in a picture might not be smiling, antlers on a hamster can strike your funny bone regardless of your sense of humor.
A second, popular category involving funny cards is that of babies. There are cards with babies attempting to eat presents instead of opening them. Christmas cards consistently are funny whether a baby is pictured toppling a Christmas tree, eating branches on the tree, or simply making that sour face at the initial taste of a pine needle.
A popular combination from two of the above categories involves babies trying to ride animals (usually dogs) dressed as reindeer.
A few other common categories include:
- Inconvenient events for Santa, like the sleigh getting a flat tire or Rudolph not making it to work
- Ms. Claus nagging Santa to lose weight or do mundane housework
- Santa doing naughty things
From my perspective, the best card of all centers on Santa receiving a note from a young boy named Timmy. The card communicates Santa‘s initial pleasure after eating and drinking the cookies and milk Timmy has left for him; pleasure that instantaneously turns to panic when he reads Timmy‘s note, saying “Dear Santa, if you leave a brand new bike under the tree I promise to give you the antidote for the poison I put in your milk and cookies. Love, Timmy.
