Christmas at the Movies $35 Whether we love or hate it, Christmas has always played a special role in the cinema, and Christmas movies like "It’s a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" have a special place in popular affections. They almost constitute a mini-cinematic genre. So what does Christmas in the movies mean to societies across the Anglo-Saxon and European world and what does it have to say about them? The contributors to this book take a good look at popular Christmas films, decoding the messages they convey about preoccupations and attitudes internationally and about the different societies that produce them. |

Aid To Relieve Holiday Pressure With Funny Christmas Cards
While most everyone else sends serene, religious or cheerful Christmas cards during the holidays you can make an impact by sending funny Christmas cards instead. You see, many people get stressed out by the holidays due to tight schedules, having to spend extra money on gifts for people they don’t really like, and annoying relatives who come to town, snore on their couch, and eat all of their food.
A funny card can be your outlet to protect your sanity, in a humorous way, as to how you relate to them.
Still, don‘t act on impulse. Only by knowing the person the card is being sent to well can your attempt at humor be maintained on a positive note. Be careful the subject that hits your funny bone is not odorous to another.
Look on the Internet and you, too, will see a large variety of humorous Christmas cards. There are a ton of cards with pictures of animals dressed as reindeer. Remember, the purpose of your card is to humor another human being, so any lack of joy expressed by the animal wearing antlers on the card can take a back seat to your intent.
Another whole category of funny cards involves babies. There are cards with babies attempting to eat presents instead of opening them. Let‘s face it, whether a baby is pictured tumbling a Christmas tree, eating branches off the tree, or grimacing at the taste of a pine needle, the end result is we adults will smile or even laugh aloud.
Many people combine babies with the reindeer theme, photographing an infant trying to ride an animal such as a favorite dog adorned with the antlers of a reindeer.
More ideas for Christmas funny topics could include:
- Santa doing naughty things
- Ms. Claus nagging Santa to lose weight or do mundane housework
- Inconvenient events for Santa, like the sleigh getting a flat tire or Rudolph not making it to work
From my perspective, the best card of all centers on Santa receiving a note from a young boy named Timmy. After Santa has scarfed down the milk and cookies Timmy left for him, Santa’s face goes from satisfied to terrified as the note reads something like, “Dear Santa, if you leave a brand new bike under the tree I promise to give you the antidote for the poison I put in your milk and cookies. Your loving child, Timmy.
Truth is, funny Christmas cards can help your loved ones relieve some stress over the holidays. Do you have a favorite card? Let us know in the comments!
