Who Exactly Created Our Stunning Christmas Lamps?
Soon after Thomas Edison formulated the light bulb that could be utilized for commercial consumption, the concept of Christmas tree lights was one of the primary applications. Before the breakthrough, electricity candles were used as christmas lights. The risks of this were of principal concern at that time.
As time advanced, the candles had glass covers, or metal lanterns having small wicks and were hung on the trees like ornaments on Christmas trees. Consider doing that this period and age: a recipe for a burning up house.
Even with the dangers, it took a very long time for holiday tree bulbs to become commercially accessible. It's said that the concept of these lights came from Edison's assistant, Edward Johnson: he had the bulbs designed specially for his house and he displayed his Christmas tree lights at his residential home in New York City.
From these modest beginnings of the inventors, the Christmas tree light fittings went through many modifications before General Electric introduced them commercially. The early days of lamps on Christmas trees were nighttime lights strung jointly to make extended strings of lights. Maybe you have seen these in some old pictures. Those large bulbs that would break into a million pieces when they hit the tiles.
Christmas mini lights became available in the mid to late 1970's. There have been many changes to the original christmas lights but for the most part they are the same. Dynamic sales have climbed as application for these bulbs and have developed to not just fixing up the tree, as well as used as open air Christmas lights. Icicle lights tend to be the most popular and are seen on most residences that use open air lighting at Christmas time. Outdoor decorative lighting has become one of the popular types and tend to be somewhat of a battle among neighbors. Several people will use moving Christmas lights that can create breathtaking scene and some are even animated.
Many of the lights used today are led lights. They are long standing and if one light goes out, the complete string will still function, not like the old days, if one light was out, you had to go through individually to determine the bad bulb. And with some holiday light strings of 100 or more, it was not really a fun task. So always make sure that before you purchase your next set of christmas lights that it says on the box that you don't have to replace a poor bulb to make the complete string of lights work.
