Christmas List $18.99 “The uplifting conclusion of The Christmas List, a heart-warming account of the power of encouragement and appreciation, is based on a true story that circulated on the Internet. A nun told her fourth-grade students to write their names on a piece of paper and then pass the paper to the next person, who was to write a sentence of appreciation about the person named at the top. When the exercise was done, each student had twenty-four comments of admiration and appreciation – one from each classmate. The Christmas List follows James Engler, who returns home to Iowa one Christmas, after his fiancee calls off their marriage, and discovers that his best childhood friend, Mike, has just been killed in the Gulf War. When Mike’s parents reveal at a memorial service that Mike had carried his fourth-grade list with him, most of James’s former classmates confess that they, too, kept their lists as a reminder, even in the worst of times, of their admirable traits and that they were appreciated.James also renews his acquaintance with his former classmate Sarah, who wrote on his list, “You are a great guy and some day I’m going to marry.” And she does. Stop Any Listlessness Through Photo Yule Greeting Cards
For many people, the Christmas season is a time of loneliness and depression. This seems odd, as it’s such a joyous occasion for families who spend that time together. However, for those away from their families or without families and friends to comfort them, the holidays can be extremely tough.
If you know of such people, why not cheer them with up with photo Christmas cards you’ve either made or had printed for you?
The subject depicted on a photo card, whether a shot of your family, a scenic photo, or humorous shot might not make much difference to the person receiving the card. The mere thought someone cares enough about them at Christmastime to send a photo card likely will warm his or her heart.
Six potential photo shoots
- etc.) along with your chosen photo
- Select important images from your past
- A caricaturized picture of you
- A shot of your entire family
- Use a theme (famous quote
Although some people look at the process of taking a family photo as an extremely difficult task, it doesn‘t have to be.
As in many areas of life, starting early in your quest, in this instance to secure a quality family photo, is desirable. Not having your own Christmas tree upright in your home is of no real concern. Most likely there’s a mall not far away, and stores there regularly begin decorating for Christmas immediately following Thanksgiving, if not before. Malls, and mall lighting often can provide you with the backdrop you desire for your Christmas photo well in advance of Christmas itself.
If you have young children and keeping still is an issue, bring stuffed animals, Christmas Bells, or even live animals that will keep them occupied for as long as it takes to get the photo(s) you are seeking.
Teenagers can rebel and not want to be part of a group photo, but there’s no reason you can’t bend and work with them. Their cooperation can be enlisted without compromising their individuality by taking action shots of them doing what they enjoy doing most, such as playing basketball or riding a horse, and incorporating that shot into a collage of Christmas photos.
You also could take your family photo in an atypical location with atypical props. For a slightly unusual impact, you could take the family to a beach and picture your children sitting on a sleigh. Yet another photo possibility at the seashore would be to construct a snowman of sand, stick sunglasses on him, then position your children around him for photographs.
The brilliant colors of fall can become perfect backdrops for Christmas cards, even give you a chance to design and/or make your cards well in advance of the Yule season. Whether your children are playing in a huge pile of golden leaves or in a pumpkin patch, the bright colors and joy of the children will photograph well.
The potential subject matter for photo Christmas cards goes well beyond the four major categories listed above and, in essence, only is limited by the imagination and creativity of the individual designing the card.
Yet, one basic remains. The persons who most need the comfort and joy of receiving such cards will never know how much you care until you take the time to send them that Christmas card.
