For many people, the Christmas holiday season is analogous to stress. The seemingly simple task of buying Christmas gifts often is complicated by volumes of traffic and holiday crowds. Expenses for these presents can be high. Insert extra time for shopping, and already busy schedules become more and more hectic. All that stress, though, can be relieved when they receive funny Christmas cards in the mail.

Keep in mind that your sense of humor might differ drastically from the individual you wish to send a card to. Think of the other person and their sense of humor before electing to send a humorous card for Christmas. Only begin the selection of humorous Christmas cards if you know the intended recipient well enough to know what strikes their funny bone or if they’ll forgive you if you choose wrong.
Humorous holiday cards arrive in many sizes and shapes. Common topics of such cards include:

- Animals
- Kids
With Santa themes, you’ll often find things like Santa getting caught while being naughty. Several cards feature Santa getting pulled over for speeding. Others have Santa deciding to keep especially cool presents for himself. Others include Ms. Claus giving Santa a hard time about his weight.
Cards about children in most situations generate a win-win situation. Unreasonable requests of Santa in letters written by children are great fodder for inclusion in Christmas cards. A particularly popular funny cartoon shows Santa eating cookies next to an empty milk glass while reading the following letter, “Dear Santa, If you put a bike under the Christmas tree I’ll give you the anecdote for the poison I put in the milk. The best of all possible children, Timmy.”
If the person on your list loves animals, you can make them laugh by dressing up your animal as Santa, putting a bow on the animal as if it were a present, or decorate the creature as a reindeer.
If the card is being sent to an individual with a sense of humor and a strong liking for a public figure such as Barbara Streisand or Kobe Bryant, a characterized representation of that public person with a gentle jab of humor might be appropriate.
