How the Grinch Stole Christmas - $19.99 Chuck Jones’ animated version of the classic Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas originally aired on television in 1966 and has since become a holiday family favorite. Voiced by Boris Karloff (who also narrates), the Grinch lives on top of a hill overlooking Whoville with his dog, Max. Each year at Christmas time, the Grinch’s hatred grows stronger toward those insufferably cheerful Whos down in Whoville. Content to exchange presents, eat large banquets, and sing songs in the town square, the Whos live in a blissful ignorance of the Grinch’s contempt. One year, he gets the idea to stop Christmas from coming by dressing up as Santa Claus. He cobbles together an outfit and makes his dog drag him around on a sleigh while sneaking into the Whos’ homes and stealing their presents, food, and decorations. After he has stolen every last thing, the Whos wake up on Christmas morning to sing in the town square, causing the Grinch to question the basis of his nefarious plan. Thurl Ravenscroft (the voice of kid cereal mascot Tony the Tiger) provides the vocals for the song “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” This story was remade into a live-action movie in 2000 by director Ron Howard starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi |

Buying Gifts for Children
Within the future time of giving, odds are quite high that you need to obtain quite a few Christmas gifts for kids. No matter whether you have kids of your own, you are sure to have friends and relatives who do. Holiday shopping for youngsters could be difficult. This article looks at a number of common do’s and don’ts for a successful holiday trade this year.
Buy age acceptable gadgets.
One particular very essential aspect in buying toys for children will be likely to find something which is within the correct age ranges. With regard to very young children, this implies not buying gadgets which have tiny bits which can be quite a choking risk, or games which are above their knowledge level. Alternatively, this also indicates to not get a thing that is too babyish or young for an slightly older youngster. Numerous gadgets have an ideal age range printed on the packaging to offer you a good idea.
Buy toys and games suitable to their living situation.
Before you purchase a very large sized gift like the Fisher Price Power Wheels Dune Racer by way of example, make sure that the individual has space at their house. If you are considering something really huge, like a trampoline, Foosball or ping-pong table, you’ll absolutely need to make sure they have room. Yet even something not so large and spectacular will take up a lot of space in a small apartment. Furthermore, if they do live in a rental, sound is yet another concern. You might want to avoid giving a drum kit or the like in this situation.
Repeat Presents
You don’t want to give the child a thing they have, however this may be difficult to steer clear of in the event you don’t know them quite well. One particular good strategy is to inquire of them just what they want for Xmas. Generally children will say the priciest and wacky gift they could think of like the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer, but if you've something in mind, you may casually refer to it in the course of your discussion to determine if they have it. Several toys, you'll never have too many of, similar to Legos, Hot Wheels cars or Barbies.
Talk to the mothers and fathers
Make sure to think about exactly what the parents feel is appropriate before getting just what may be regarded as a questionable gift. Many parents decided never to offer their children imaginary weapons, swords or some other toys which have a brutal symbolism. For anyone who is shopping for a adolescent, make sure that there aren't any adult notice labels concerning violence, explicit lyrics or older subject matter. No matter how well-known that CD or online game is, it is usually better to get another gift.
If in doubt, or for those who have questions, the best idea is to phone the parents of the intended individual and find out what they think of the present that you'd like to buy for their kid. That way, they've got the opportunity to tell you if it is a thing that the child will enjoy and if it'll be acceptable. With a bit of preparing and thought, Xmas shopping for youngsters will not be any issue for you this coming year!
