Why Do We Need To Celebrate Xmas

The Bible never commands us to celebrate Christmas or observe any other holiday allegedly borrowed from ancient Pagans. Can we then, as followers of Jesus Christ partake of an increasingly commercialized and temporal Holiday? It is true that many Pagan Holidays took place in the month of December. Almost all the states surrounding the Mediterranean Sea held festivals celebrating the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice according to the Julian calendar was December 25th.

It is indeed fact that by selecting December 25th, the Church chose a date where worship of fake deities was performed. What's often misstated or wholly ignored is the Churches intent in selecting this date. The Church by choosing the solstice was able to line up a holiday to rival the Pagan festivals, which has almost completely exterminated the celebrations to these fake Gods. The bible never directly states that we are to commemorate the birth of our Lord.

Not like the Ten Commandments which are explicit, A few individuals believe their is an implicit directive to celebrate Jesus birth. Here are some proof of the Angels ' reaction to the arrival of the Christ in Luke ; Suddenly a great firm of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and pronouncing, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." Luke 2:13-14 NIV The Angelic Host, after having informed the watchful shepherds of the incarnation of the Savior and the way to recognise Him broke into a song of praise and blessing.

The Sheppard's react in pretty much the same manner after seeing the Christ kid as Luke records ; The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the stuff they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Luke 2:20 NIVThese unplanned acts of worship certainly qualify as a confirmation of the birth of the Christ. The commercialization of Yuletide is clearly a fact. All one desires do is look around them, from television and radio, to magazines and store front ads, we are snowed under with sales spiels. We are told that we must have the latest and greatest thing.

This sort of party of Yuletide would be idolatrous. Our celebration of Xmas should take on the disposition of the Angels and shepherds. As Christians our party must be one of amazement, wonder, gratitude and joy. Our celebration is to be a regular daily party of one of the greatest moments in redemptive history. Till He comes again we should celebrated His first incarnation in a manner suggest by an unknown song writer in round the 11th or 12th century.
