Must Xmas Be Celebrated

The Bible never commands us to celebrate Xmas or observe any other festival allegedly borrowed from ancient Pagans. Can we then, as fans of Jesus Christ luxuriate in an increasingly commercialized and mundane Holiday? It is correct that many Pagan Vacations happened in the month of December. Most all the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea held festivals celebrating the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice according to the Julian calendar was December 25th.

It is indeed fact that by selecting December 25th, the Church selected a date where worship of fake deities was performed. What is often misstated or totally ignored is the Churches intention in selecting this date. The Church by choosing the solstice was able to set up a festival to rival the Pagan festivals, that has just about completely eradicated the parties to these fake Gods. The bible never immediately states that we are to commemorate the birth of our Lord.

In contrast to the Ten Commandments which are explicit, Some individuals believe their is an implicit directive to celebrate Jesus birth. These are some proof of the Angels ' reaction to the arrival of the Christ in Luke ; Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." Luke 2:13-14 NIV The Angelic Host, after having informed the watchful shepherds of the incarnation of the Savior and how to recognize Him broke into a song of praise and blessing.

The Sheppard's react in pretty much the same manner after seeing the Christ child as Luke records ; The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the stuff they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Luke 2:20 NIVThese unplanned acts of worship certainly qualify as a confirmation of the arrival of the Christ. The commercialization of Yuletide is certainly a fact. All one wants do is look around them, from TV and radio, to mags and store front adverts, we are inundated with sales spiels. We are told that we must have the most recent and greatest thing.

This type of celebration of Yuletide would be idolatrous. Our celebration of Yuletide should take on the approach of the Angels and shepherds. As Christians our celebration must be one of awe, wonder, gratitude and joy. Our celebration is to be a regular daily celebration of one of the best moments in redeeming history. Until He comes again we should celebrated His first incarnation in a way suggest by an unknown song writer in round the 11th or 12th century.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas 21st Century Edition

'Twas the Night Before Christmas 21st Century Edition

$9.99

In Kluger and Slavin's rendition, Christmas is no longer a time of sparkling snow globes and neighborly good will, but rather a celebration of profits, bonuses, and cutthroat competition—complete with disgruntled elves, outsourced Santas, union conflicts, Twittered conspiracies, randy reindeer, media hysteria, factory relocations, toxic merchandise, and a giant leveraged buyout that rocks the world from pole to pole.Packing their verse with hilariously spun rhymes ("The workers grew grim, as they churlishly chored / while Santa grew haplessly, craplessly bored") and even funnier illustrations (picture Santa jumping on Oprah's couch and Mrs. Claus in a racy Maxim cover photo), Kluger and Slavin spike the holiday eggnog with smart and saucy sass—not to mention loads of laughs. 'Twas the Night Before Christmas 21st Century Edition, makes the perfect stocking stuffer or lighthearted gift.
