When Christmas comes nearer, it is such a fascinating and enchanting time. Christmas Planning brings about so much pleasure just as experiencing the vacation itself. One of the best parts about this vacation is decorating the Christmas tree. It is so much fun to ask your kids to give a hand in tree decorations. Children would obviously appreciate using several festoons and Xmas lights. The following guidelines and suggestions will help you a lot when it is time to use these lights.
1. Avoid using nails or staple guns to stick lights on your tree. Such type of sharp objects might break the wire and the consequences could be harmful. Any uncovered wire is a big risk to all the good friends and members of the family. Hence, be very careful the moment you are fixing the lights. Try to use plastic clips, tie wires and such fasteners that are safe and specially designed for the lights. You can get special insulated staples which are safe to use on lights and wires as well. Go for such safer options. Be sure that the Xmas lights are in safe working condition and the wires are covered.
2. Study all the basic safety guidelines on the lights very well before you use them. It might seem too much for a holiday, however you will agree that the safety of the family members and friends is important than everything else.
3. If you plan to get lights for your Christmas tree, go for the LED Xmas lights option. These lights are environment-friendly, not too costly and brighter as compared to other lights. Additionally, these lights are quite long lasting.
4. Whether you have purchased new lights or you use last years' lights, see if the bulbs are functioning properly and that the wires fully covered. The sockets must be alright and the wires should be in proper functioning condition.
5. Cover all the sockets using an electrical tape. The tape will assure you that the connections are intact. It will obstruct water or any liquid from getting into the electric points.
6. Lessen the number of extension wires you use. These could be a hazard. You do not need any circuit overload or a power failure in festival time. Hence, connect the lights according to the safety guidelines of the manufacturer.
7. Take all precautions while you are actually fixing the lights on the tree. Use a wooden ladder and wear rubber slippers. Keep kids away any time you are doing electric work. Make sure that you stay well away from the main power line.
8. You must keep the Christmas lights on only when you are awake at home. When you go out, you must turn them off. You must always be present when lights are on.
9. Even when the festival at what time you have visitors, check if all lights are intact and all connections are okay. This little inspection will take only a few minutes, however they could save big accidents.
10. After the festival, you must remove the lights carefully and pack them properly for later use. Do not leave extension chords or wires inside the house. Pick them up and put them at a safe place.
