The Christmas holidays can be super stressful. Traffic and crowds often take people out of comfort zones as they scurry around trying to find and purchase Christmas gifts. Spending sums of money can be challenging. Insert extra time for shopping, and already busy schedules become more and more hectic. All that stress, though, can be relieved when they receive funny Christmas cards in the mail.

That your sense of humor might not be universal is an important consideration when selecting which, or even if a funny card should be sent. Think of the other person and their sense of humor before electing to send a humorous card for Christmas. If you think you understand their sense of humor (or know them well enough they will forgive you if you botch it) then, by all means, start hunting for some funny cards.
There are several types of funny holiday cards. They usually revolve around the following themes:

- Animals
- Santa
With Santa themes, you’ll often find things like Santa getting caught while being naughty. Scenes where Santa Claus is paying the price for going too fast are not uncommon. Another reoccurring theme arises when cards picture a slightly selfish Santa who hopes to retain ownership of special presents. Others include Ms. Claus giving Santa a hard time about his weight.
It’s hard to go wrong when using humor about children. You’ll often find funny quotes or bits of letters kids have written to Santa asking for something unreasonable. Picture Santa chomping on a cookie next to an empty glass of milk reading a letter that reads, “Dear Santa, If you put a bike under the Christmas tree I’ll give you the anecdote for the poison I put in the milk. Love, Timmy.”
Potential cards to animal lovers might include dressing and photographing your animal as if it were Santa, a present, or even as a reindeer.
Public figures such as Barbara Streisand and Kobe Bryant are fair game for a humorous card as long as it’s done in good taste.
Whether you choose to create your own card or buy funny Christmas cards from the store, such a card can brighten someone’s stressful holiday season.
