The Holiday Season is Eventful and Filled with Cheer within Kalamazoo
Downtown Kalamazoo is a lot of fun and incredibly festive for the duration of the holidays. It all starts off in November with the yearly Holiday Parade. Families and close friends assemble in the downtown area on a Saturday morning to enjoy floats, balloons and hear live music. At this time the gigantic Santa Claus is put in place outside the Radisson Hotel and the walking mall is embellished with Christmas lights and city banners. This launch for the holidays truly results in cheer as well as good spirits.
The Thanksgiving holiday follows this parade and after that the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. Downtown is great for shopping around. Not only is it embellished with holiday cheer and shopping center banners promoting sales events, but you can find all sorts of specialty retailers. You will be able to buy a ton of wonderful gifts while shopping in Downtown Kalamazoo.
Yet another function locals may attend every holiday season is the tree-lighting ceremony at Bronson Park. Annually the city park is sparkling with with giant candy canes and Christmas lights all over the place. Each individual pine is decorated. It certainly is a wonderful picture.
One other fun part about the holidays in this city is the Holly Jolly Trolley. This is a shuttle service in the downtown area that is free of charge. The trolley itself wears a wreath and in previous years, Christmas lights also. Many people use this service to shuttle around while shopping or just touring the city.
The end of holiday activities in Kalamazoo is the yearly fireworks display. Annually on New Year’s Eve, you could watch an elaborate display of fireworks over Bronson Park. This can be a great way to bring in the New Year.
The holiday season in Kalamazoo really stands out. You will find entertaining, festive things to do all through November and December. Annually I look forward to experiencing and enjoying the holidays in this city with all the other locals.
