A New Teenagers Celebration With Gaming
We recently welcomed a new teenager into our home. We were trying to decide what kind of party he was going to have when we came up with a great idea. It was time to bring out the video games. The theme of the party was going to be go big or go home, and we decided we would go big.
The first thing we would need was going to be some video game platforms, and it was not going to be good enough to only have one, we would have to get a Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360 Kinect and a Playstation move along with a variety of games for the kids to play and some televisions for them to play on.
There was no need for me to worry about how we would get the platforms for gaming and the televisions to play them on. Or so I thought it would be simple. Our home was already equipped with the Wii gaming console. I contacted a video game store and asked them if they had the systems to rent and found out they did not have the Xbox Kinect because it was to new and since the Xbox 360 Kinect release date had just passed it would be a while for them to start renting them but they did have titles available for all three of the platforms and it would just be a matter of finding a store that had the titles that I wanted. We did not let that stop us from getting all three platforms. Through friends and families we were able to find the consoles that we did not have and were able to use them for the party.
We needed to add a few more screens to our home to complete the game platforms. We were up to date technologically in the house and had two decent high definition televisions. For the third television we decided to go all out. We were able to lease a television that was bigger than I ever imagined, seventy-three inches, and it was delivered before the party. The only problem was that the minimum rental window was three weeks. This meant we had to suffer with the big television in our home for three whole weeks. It was not something that made my spouse happy with me.
Once we had all the plans in place, the party took shape. My son went to the video store and was able to rent video games that everyone would like to play. My son told the kids who he invited to bring any games or accessories that they wanted. When we were digging through the closets we found some handheld gaming systems and some plug and play systems. We set up everything that we had that had anything to do with video games. We did not have a shortage of things for a kid to do.
As the kids arrived I was amazed at the variety of thing that they brought with them. The number of accessories that these kids had for the games was amazing. Our rooms were full of guns, swords, and everything else imaginable. And then there was the video games that the kids brought with them that was just as vast as the accessories. There was enough to keep this group of kids occupied throughout the entire night.
I did not last the whole night. My son and his guest lasted longer than me. There was not much sleeping that went on. The game play lasted until breakfast. I do not know how happy the other parents were about the lack of sleep for their children. But we succeeded in going big.
