Playing Games For A Party
The time of year had come to celebrate my son’s birthday. As his birthday approached, we tossed around many ideas for a party before deciding on one. We would have a video game party. In order to make the party memorable, we knew that it would take more than one platform played on a little television and decided to ramp up the excitement as best as we could.
The first thing we would need was going to be some video game platforms, and it was not going to be good enough to only have one, we would have to get a Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360 Kinect and a Playstation move along with a variety of games for the kids to play and some televisions for them to play on.
I did not think it would be difficult to get the monitors for the different consoles or even hard to get the consoles. Or so I thought it would be simple. I had bought a Nintendo system several years before. I contacted a video game store and asked them if they had the systems to rent and found out they did not have the Xbox Kinect because it was to new and since the Xbox 360 Kinect release date had just passed it would be a while for them to start renting them but they did have titles available for all three of the platforms and it would just be a matter of finding a store that had the titles that I wanted. We did not let that stop us from getting all three platforms. Through friends and families we were able to find the consoles that we did not have and were able to use them for the party.
The other part of the gaming equation was getting the monitors to enjoy the games on. We already owned one big screen television and another that was fairly big. There was room for one television that would outdo them all. The local furniture rental store had a TV that had over a six foot screen that we went ahead and rented. The only problem was that the minimum rental window was three weeks. This meant we had to suffer with the big television in our home for three whole weeks. It was not something that made my spouse happy with me.
As the party approached we got everything set up. We rented some games form the video store that included some very popular titles. My son told the kids who he invited to bring any games or accessories that they wanted. We found that we also had some older platforms and games to play with too. We turned our home into a modern day arcade that was full of systems to play with. There was plenty for everyone to play.
As the kids arrived I was amazed at the variety of thing that they brought with them. The number of accessories that these kids had for the games was amazing. It was hard to believe that you had sporting good equipment and racing wheels for the different games. The kids also had no shortage of different titles that they gathered from their own collections. I figured that the party would last all night and these kids would probably not get much sleep.
I gave up at some point in the party. That was not the case of the teenagers in my home. There was not much sleeping that went on. I woke up to the sounds of the games the next morning. I am sure that when the kids returned home they probably slept throughout the day. The good news is that the party was the talk of the school the next week.

If he knew what is in store for him, he probably wouldn't go, because before this evening is over that cranky old piano is going to play 'Those Piano Roll Blues', with some effects that could happen only in the Twilight Zone. : Synopsis Drama critic Fitzgerald Fortune goes to Throckmorton's curio shop to buy his young wife Esther a player piano as a birthday present. At the shop, as the hard-bitten and hard-shelled owner plays the piano, he reveals his soft, sentimental side. Fortune notes the piano's magical properties, which reveal men's true natures, and purchases it. Later at home, the solemn butler, Marvin, bursts out laughing under the influence of the piano and reveals that he actually enjoys working for Fortune. When Fortune puts on a roll for his wife, she reveals that she detests him for his cruelty to her and the people around him. He then tries it out on one of his wife's party guests, a jaded playwright , Gregory Walker, who admits to being in love with Fitzgerald's wife Esther and that they had a tryst while she was on vacation away from Fitzgerald.
