A New Teenagers Celebration With Gaming
My son was approaching his thirteenth birthday. As his birthday approached, we tossed around many ideas for a party before deciding on one. It was time to bring out the video games. In order to make the party memorable, we knew that it would take more than one platform played on a little television and decided to ramp up the excitement as best as we could.
The first thing we would need was going to be some video game platforms, and it was not going to be good enough to only have one, we would have to get a Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360 Kinect and a Playstation move along with a variety of games for the kids to play and some televisions for them to play on.
There was no need for me to worry about how we would get the platforms for gaming and the televisions to play them on. It turned out to be more difficult than I thought. Our home was already equipped with the Wii gaming console. I contacted a video game store and asked them if they had the systems to rent and found out they did not have the Xbox Kinect because it was to new and since the Xbox 360 Kinect release date had just passed it would be a while for them to start renting them but they did have titles available for all three of the platforms and it would just be a matter of finding a store that had the titles that I wanted. We did not let that stop us from getting all three platforms. We decided to talk to some of my son’s friends and borrow the platforms from them.
No video game would be complete without a good television to play it on. We already owned one big screen television and another that was fairly big. For the third television we decided to go all out. We found out that we could rent a 73 inch 3-D television and made the arrangements to do just that. They did not let you rent it for a couple of days, so it stayed in our home for a month. This meant we had to suffer with the big television in our home for three whole weeks. Every man should have that big a television at least once.
Once we had all the plans in place, the party took shape. The local video store was one of the places that we found some games that the kids would enjoy. My son told the kids who he invited to bring any games or accessories that they wanted. We found that we also had some older platforms and games to play with too. There were monitors and game systems in almost every room of the house. I do not think that we were lacking in this department.
I never expected to see the wide array of gaming accessories that the people carried through the door of our home. There seemed to be no end to the extras for the consoles and games. I think we would have been able to open our own store with all of the stuff. There was also a wide variety of games to chose from for all of the platforms. I figured that the party would last all night and these kids would probably not get much sleep.
I was too old to go without sleep. That was not the case of the teenagers in my home. I do not think the televisions ever got turned off. The game play lasted until breakfast. When we returned the teenagers to their parents, I am sure that they looked very tired for the rest of the day. In the end we were able to accomplish what we wanted to.
