Glandular Fever Is Not A Life-threatening Type Of Fever But This Fever Lasts For Several Weeks At A Time
About 25% of people have been affected by glandular fever at least once. Epstein-Barr virus is what causes the mononucleosis infectious or also known as the Glandular fever. The glandular fever can incubate from 30 up to 50 days. Signs and symptoms of glandular fever will already tell the doctor enough to make a diagnosis. Glandular fever will not cause any serious health risk but it tends to last weeks before subsiding. A patient who had glandular fever may still be contagious and spread the Epstein-Barr virus for months. Even when you no longer have the glandular fever, you can still infect others from weeks up to months after. Some people who have the Epstein-Barr virus don’t get to develop the glandular fever. Most often the onset of glandular fever shows mild symptoms such as the feeling of tiredness and having a headache. After an infection, adults show glandular fever symptoms after about 4 to 7 weeks while children show the symptoms early. When a patient has light to medium level fever and also lymph nodes that look inflamed, this can be Symptoms of mono. A patient experiencing glandular fever symptoms like exhaustion can feel this from weeks and even months.
It’s quite common that the more serious glandular fever symptoms would subside in 3 months. In 2 to 3 weeks after symptoms of glandular fever appeared, you must take a lot of rest. Glandular fever is quite contagious that children can get the disease before they reach the age of 5. Glandular fever is not known to be causing any complication and children improve after weeks or months. It is still unfortunate that Epstein-Barr virus still has no medicine to fight it from causing the glandular fever. It is best for a patient to drink water or fruit juices often when they are still suffering from glandular fever. If glandular fever causes you to have sore throat, you can get some relief by gargling salt water. It’s not wise to drink antibiotics when you have glandular fever as this fever is viral and not bacterial in nature. 50% of reported cases of glandular fever are also suffering from swollen spleen. Some who had the infection for glandular fever have reported that their immune system started to malfunction years after. It is possible that genetics has something to do with a person’s vulnerability to glandular fever.
