Exploring The Ventnor Area On Your Isle Of Wight Vacation

Ventnor is located at the southern portion of the Isle of Wight. It's shielded by St. Boniface Down, the highest level on the isle. Ventnor welcomes most of the sunniest summer months as well as the mildest winters in the entire UK and encourages lush vegetation and different wildlife in this distinct region.

Over the Victorian times, Ventnor developed into a trendy vacation and health destination. Queen Victoria's doctor Sir James Clark highly recommended the health-giving attributes of Ventnor's climate describing it as nothing comparable to over the southern English coast. At present, the town in reinventing itself as being a holiday getaway which can be shown by the rapid rate of commercial and residential improvement including high end hotels, top rate watering holes and lounges as well as its newest harbour. What To Do, Where To Go

St Boniface Down
It is the highest point of the isle rising to about 791 feet where one obtains a magnificent view. There is a footpath which leads here coming from the old Mitchell Avenue train station. Once you're there you can walk over the downs to Shanklin or Appuldurcombe or walk back using the undercliff and Bonchurch. St Boniface is also accessible by vehicle along a path at Newport road.

Botanic Garden
This is a pleasant walk away around the coast path and has tropical plants from around the globe in themed gardens within a landscaped setting. You will see both temperate and tropical flora. Entrance is free but you must pay to park and visit the temperate house.

Steephill Cove
You will find this natural, 'untouched' cove in between the Botanical Garden and Ventnor Bay. There's no vehicle access to this place (you will have to walk coming from the Botanical Gardens), which is the reason Steephill has safeguarded its restful nature through ages. Visitors come here to eat, as the location continues to be a working port where you can enjoy fresh catch from the sea, largely comprising lobsters and crabs.

Ventnor Heritage Museum
The museum stores Ventnor's history in photos, written documents and artifacts. You'll see old train models on display.

Ventnor Park
Although it isn't a notably large park, Ventnor Park is well preserved and has a putting green with frozen treats and refreshments which usually open into the evenings during peak season. Close to the Park Lodge is a small bird aviary and not too far at a distance is Ventnor Park's Bandstand where musicians and bands perform during local festivals.
